final project ( create a series of photo through a view finder )

Starting my final project, an idea of taking of people smoking popped out of my mind. I really want to create something moody, cinematic and cool. Thus, i have an idea of create a sequence of whole process of people smoking. 

Apart from that, it is also really matter to me. After I came to Canada, I am staying apart from my friends. Sometimes I would memorise they were talking with me while they were smoking. At that moment, I feel like we become closer as they can talk something different when they are smoking. They talked more deeply , something that is really private. Meanwhile, I have found that they became more attractive to me . They become stunning as I found that I am trustworthy to them. I am a person that is matter to them. As a result, I really want to capture that moment from my own perspective.

I started to do some research on how to take a photo of smoking. First, I should find a darker background in order to create contrast between it and smoke . Also some light should be added to emphasise the smoke. I chose to work on a sunny day outside but it took place with walls covered. There is a small light spot at the back.

After took 2 rolls of films, the second one was developed successfully. Unfortunately, there are scratches on two pictures that are necessarily to be included in my series from my point of view. I don't want to give up these two photos so i still kept them in my series. These two photos can make my series more comprehensive. During printing process, At first it is quite hard to find the correct exposure, I found out using F/5.8 aperture can create a darker tone of my prints . From my perspective, I really like this dark tone and I think it matched with the scene of people smoking. It is more moody.
