Angie's photography

I really enjoy this project as I can get a chance to work with my classmates. Four of us Colton, May ,Lucas and me decided to work together. We had so much fun as we can try on different costumes and act different roles .  For my project, I have to act like the one who abuse others, with complecated emotions. I have to put scars and blood make up on May as well. These are the new experiences for me. We tried several shots and made some changes. Eventually I can get what I want after few attempts. I was the photographer for Lucas's photo. Although Lucas had already set up the lighting and the camera setting, I am the one who have to discover actors position and tell them to move in a suitable place.  I have learnt a lot in this project as I tried to compose my photo, be an actor, be a photographer and be a make up artist.

For developing my own idea, I was thinking about making a scene of telling a story about stockholm syndrome.  Stockholm syndrome is  a coping mechanism to a captive or abusive situation . People develop positive feelings toward their captors or abusers over time. This condition applies to situations including child abuse, coach-athlete abuse, relationship abuse and sex trafficking. I would like to take Nan Goldin's work as reference.  The Ballad of Sexual Dependency  is a 1985 slide  exhibition and 1986 artist book  publication of photographs taken between 1979 and 1986 by photographer Nan Goldin . The photos are captured in intimate moments of love and loss. They experience ecstasy and pain through sex and drug use; they revel at dance clubs and bond with their children at home; and they suffer from domestic violence and the ravages of AIDS.
