Starting my final project, an idea of taking of people smoking popped out of my mind. I really want to create something moody, cinematic and cool. Thus, i have an idea of create a sequence of whole process of people smoking.  Apart from that, it is also really matter to me. After I came to Canada, I am staying apart from my friends. Sometimes I would memorise they were talking with me while they were smoking. At that moment, I feel like we become closer as they can talk something different when they are smoking. They talked more deeply , something that is really private. Meanwhile, I have found that they became more attractive to me . They become stunning as I found that I am trustworthy to them. part 1 of this assignment is to try different stops of exposure in order to familiar with how dark or how bright a photo presents of each stops of exposure.   With a lower stop of exposure, a brighter a photo is. With a higher stop of exposure, a darker a photo is. This the result of a "0" exposure! which is the proper exposure. Part 2 is to learn two different types of depth-of-view. One is deep depth-of-view, one is shallow depth-of-view. This is a photo shows a shallow depth-of-view, which is only a part of the frame is in focus, while the rest is rendered blurry. This is a photo shows a deep depth-of-view, which is a larger area in focus, both fore and back area can be focused. After finished this assignment, I can understand how a proper exposure is created. Also, I can take a picture of objects that I want to focus on by adjusting aperture to create shallow-depth-of-view. It is so much fun to do an assignment that is experimental. Aperture  It refers to  the opening of a lens's diaphragm through which light passes. It is written as f/stop, which the numbers are 3.5, 5.6, 8,11,16 (based on Nikon FM 10). Basically, with a lower f/stop, a more shallow depth of field occurs. Meanwhile, with a higher f/stop, a deeper depth of field occurs.  Iso It refers to a camera's light sensitivity. The iso values are 25, 50, 100, 200, 400, 1000, 1600, 3200  (based on Nikon FM 10). With a higher value , the brighter the photos are. Also, the photos become more grainy.  Shutter speed It refers to speed at which the shutter of the camera close. Shutter speed of Nikon FM10 are 1/1 to 1/2000. Faster shutter speed has a shorter exposure, slower shutter speed has a longer exposure. A faster shutter speed is suitable for taking action photography in order to capture a sharper result.

After we finished our pinhole photography project , we held an exhibition on 8th floor of fine art building.  We chose to hang our works up by salon-style.                                              What is salon-style? It is a term that refers to  large groupings of art that extend higher and lower than the traditional eye-level single row or “museum-style” hanging . First, we hanged up a white cotton thread at eye-level row. We started to  decide which pieces is suitable to put in the middle , at left or right. Besides, some of us decided to cut boundary of their  pieces in order to reach  unity. Our works turns out beautifully after this. It is not so easy to hang up our pieces. What is pinhole photography? Light simply pass though a pinhole and project an inverted image to a side inside a pinhole camera. Start to build a pinhole camera First, I choose to use a coffee tin to build a pinhole camera. I used black aryclic paint to paint inner of the tin. Then i directly poke a pinhole on the tin. It created a circle frame on  image. Experienced of light leak At first, i only used black arcylic paint to paint the lid of the camera. Then image founded out is nearly all black in colour. Eventually, i used black electronic tape to tight it. It works!! Portrait Duration i tried many times to record people walking, but it failed. Then I thought that i can simply show 1,2,3 to present duration!!
