For developing my own idea, I was thinking about making a scene of telling a story about stockholm syndrome.  Stockholm syndrome is  a coping mechanism to a captive or abusive situation . People develop positive feelings toward their captors or abusers over time. This condition applies to situations including child abuse, coach-athlete abuse, relationship abuse and sex trafficking. I would like to take Nan Goldin's work as reference.  The Ballad of Sexual Dependency  is a 1985 slide  exhibition and 1986 artist book  publication of photographs taken between 1979 and 1986 by photographer Nan Goldin . The photos are captured in intimate moments of love and loss. They experience ecstasy and pain through sex and drug use; they revel at dance clubs and bond with their children at home; and they suffer from domestic violence and the ravages of AIDS. This assignment allows us to be more familiar with our camera. For this assignment, I used my own DSLR camera- Nikon D7000.  35mm prime lens is used, with f1.8.  At first, as interest in street photography, I begin this assignment on taking photo of streets. I went to downtown Lethbridge to discover objects, people, views that stands for A-Z. I found that there are many unique signs of shops , therefore I included photo of them in my assignment. I also took street photo at night. I really like the night atmosphere at a city.  For taking night street photos, I researched that bringing tripod can help to take a sharp photo. Moreover, the shutter speed should be low. I should raise my iso in order to capture more lights.   In addiction, I enjoy editing the photos. There are different types of lenses. Camera lenses can be broken down into two types, zoom lenses and prime lenses. Zoom lenses The most popular zoom lenses being the 70-200 mm lens. It allows our  photograph both close up and in the distance. Prime lenses Prime lenses have a fixed focal range, which means that we can't zoom in or out.  The main advantage of prime lenses is that they specialise in just one focal length. At a result,  prime lenses produce much higher quality images than a zoom lens in general. I had so much fun on this project. Firstly, we have a chance to know how to use a 4x5 camera. Secondly, we can reach out to lighting techniques in studio by using different professional lighting tools. It is a golden chance for us to learn how to use to tools and have a firsthand experience. For deciding the light in the portrait, I chose to use a portrait of Queen Elizabeth made by Annie Leibowitz as a reference. As I like the lighting and the pose of the queen in this portrait, I choose to duplicate her posing and the lighting May, Callie, Colton and I worked together. I appreciate their helps to help me finish this project. Although it was our first time to use a digital light meter, we can still applied what we have learnt in class.  In this week , we learnt the techniques of using photoshop. At first, we have to open history and layers. History is a great panel that help us to redo our steps. Layers prevents us to edit something that is unchangeable. We also learnt how to reduce noises.  Most importantly, function of tool bar was introduced too. For example, there are dodge and burnt tools, c lone Stamp Tool and o bject Selection Tool

 I would like to talk about Annie Leibovitz in this research as her works are very inspiring. She is an American portrait photographer best known for her engaging portraits, particularly of celebrities. She is good at using feature subjects in setting and poses. She is worked for Rolling Stone magazine for 10 years. One of her well-known portraits is her Polaroid photo of John Lennon and Yoko Ono for the magazine's cover, taken five hours before Lennon's murderer.She is also got an honour to take portrait of Queen Elizabeth. It would be mainly focused in this research. For the first take of the portrait, she prefer Queen Elizabeth to less dressy. She asked Queen to remove her tiara in order to make the image simpler. Based on this image shoot in the Buckingham Palace garden, we can see that the Queen is not wearing a tiara. However, we can also see that she is a queen .
